James Bell has been married to DeAnn Bell for 48 years, has two children, Betsy and Jay that were WISD
graduates. They have lived in Waxahachie since 1993. While DeAnn was the Director of Waxahachie for
the first ten years, James served on the founding board of Common Ground Ministries, was the Central
Texas Conference United Methodist Church Volunteer in Mission Director, served as Construction Site
Coordinator on 8 youth mission trips, served as United Methodist Men Waxahachie District President for
ten years and Central Texas Conference UMM Secretary for two years. James has also spent the last 20
years volunteering for Kairos Prison Ministry in 10 different TDCJ Units. He taught men’s discipleship
weekly classes over 5 years at the Estes Unit in Venus and the Wallace Unit in Colorado City. During that
time, he became a Certified Men’s Ministry Specialist with the General Commission of United Methodist
Men and the Northwest Texas United Methodist Church UMM President. He recently was the Founding
President of Ellis County Homeless Coalition. James’ professional career was as a commercial and
residential Landscape and Irrigation contractor that includes such landmarks as the Ellis County
Courthouse and the Waxahachie Senior Center.s.
